It utilizes a muon neutrino beam from the <a href=\"http:\/\/j-parc.jp\/index-e.html\">J-PARC accelerator<\/a> which is sent 295 kilometers underground to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www-sk.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/sk\/index_e.html\">Super-Kamiokande detector<\/a> (SK) in the Kamioka mine in Japan.
